August 17, 2009 – Portland, ME – Break out the doggy treats! Camp Bow Wow Portland has been open a year and the barks just keep getting bigger.

“We are so pleased with how the greater Portland community has welcomed us in our first year. We have experienced incredible growth due mostly to our loyal customers re-furring their friends to come and check us out. We are most proud of our Foster Dog program that has resulted in 44 of our Fosters being placed in their forever homes in just our first year. We look forward to our second year and seeing more wagging tails and getting more wet kisses!”, said franchisee Gary Mansir.

Since its opening a year ago, the camp has flourished as word has spread about how much fun our furry friends have each day. Campers love the indoor and outdoor play areas, the pools and the attention they get from our Certified Camp Counselors. Even more, they dig the chance to hang out with their puppy pals and just be dogs.

Their guardians also appreciate the service. Camp Bow Wow boasts one counselor for every 25 dogs, and counselors are trained in Pet First Aid and Pet CPR. When puppy parents have to be out of town, they’re secure in the knowledge that their furry family members are staying someplace where everyone knows their name. Overnight campers sleep in cabins complete with fleece lined cots and campfire treats, to make the time away from home less stressful and more fun, and guardians can check out the action over our Web-based Camper Cams.

There will be a barbeque that is open to the public to celebrate our one year anniversary on Saturday , August 29th, 2009 from 11:00am – 2:00pm. There will be some special guest charity organizations in attendance, free food, Starbucks Iced Coffee and FUN! There will also be great raffle prizes from Camp Bow Wow and Planet Dog with all proceeds going to benefit charity.
