AWS Appoints Gail A. Arnold Board of Directors President

WEST KENNEBUNK, Maine – July 17, 2009 – The Animal Welfare Society (AWS), a companion animal shelter, announced its 2009/2010 Board of Directors officers. The slate includes two new officers.

Effective immediately, Gail A. Arnold of Kennebunkport will begin a two-year term as president and Archer Wright of Kennebunk will begin a two-year term as treasurer. Janet Eastman of Limington will continue as vice president, Gail Rouse Stewart of Biddeford will continue as secretary, and Jill Fogg of Biddeford Pool will continue as corresponding secretary.

Arnold, owner and president of Kennebunk Beach Realty, has previously served as president of the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport Chamber of Commerce, president of KBIA, president of the Kennebunk Rotary Club, and president of the Senior Center at Lower Village. She has also served on the board of the United Way of York County, the Graves Library and serves as a corporator for Kennebunk Savings Bank.

Arnold has served on the Animal Welfare Society’s board of directors since 2006, and looks forward to her new leadership role. “Our combined communities are so fortunate to have such great a resource that addresses the needs and care of animals. The Animal Welfare Society is a wonderfully integrated asset made possible by the commitment and generosity of a caring staff, volunteers and supporters,” she said.
